Agrim Club of the Faculty of Agriculture and Life Sciences, Desh Bhagat University, Mandi Gobindgarh organized an expert talk on National Girl Child Day. The event was conducted on 24.01.2023 at 2.00 pm in the seminar hall of Agriculture.  The resource person for the day was Prof Dr) Mohinder Kaur Grewal, Retd. Principal, Govt Girls College, Ludhiana

Dr Deepinderpal Singh welcomed the resource person and all the participants. The expert focused the world talks on gender sensitization and creating awareness about the rights of the girl child, to remove gender-based bias and educate of girl child. The resource person had one-to-one interaction with the students and in a very simple way depicted the importance of equality.

About 30 students participated in the event. The motive of this activity was to raise awareness about the Rights of Girl Child, Prevention of female feticide, preventing gender-based bias, Education of the girl child, Child marriage, various schemes for the girl child, and empowering the girl child. They also added up on sensitizing the participants to the ill effects of dowry and child labor. Students shared their views in the form of poems, declamation, and by displaying posters. Ms Jagriti student of BSC Agriculture was the anchor who very pricesly conducted the event. Prof(Dr) H.K Sidhu, Dean of Agriculture and Life Sciences in her vote of thanks, thanked the management, resource persons, and students. She in her address said that by giving the girls wings to fly, they can reach the sky. She focused that both genders should be given equal rights. At last, she felicitated the guests.
