On February 28, 2023, the Agrim Club of the Faculty of Agriculture and Life Sciences of Desh Bhagat University hosted the National Science Day 2023 Talk. Resource persons for the day were Prof. (Dr.) H.S. Rose, Former Pro-Chancellor, Guru Kashi University, Talwandi Sabo and Prof. (Dr.) Narkesh Arumugarm, Ex-Head, Physiotherapy Department, Punjabi University, Patiala. Honorable Chancellor Dr. Zora Singh, Vice Chancellor. Dr. Virinder Singh, and Registrar Dr. Charanjeet Kaur Sohi blessed the occasion with their presence.

The event was initiated with a floral welcome of the dignitaries followed by a lamp-lighting ceremony and DBU Anthem. Dr. H. K. Sidhu, Professor. Faculty of Agriculture and Life Sciences, formally welcomed the guests and dignitaries and gave a brief introduction of the theme of 2023. Dr. Zora Singh, Chancellor, Desh Bhagat University, highly appreciated that such expert talks enhance and contribute towards the overall development of students as well as faculty. The resource person, Prof. (Dr.) H.S. Rose, in his address focused on the fact that science and religion are two sides of the same coin. He also explained the goals of celebrating Science Day. In his address, Dr. Rose added that human activities have dominated the earth. Prof. Dr. Narkessh Arumugarm the second resource person, gave very simple examples of daily life in his address on the day, focusing on the fact that Indians are more talented and that all we need to do is appreciate one another’s work and work as a team rather than as individuals. Students of the school of pharmacy presented a skit depicting the importance of pharmacy. Likewise, students of the Faculty of Agriculture and Life Sciences presented a mime showing a clear picture of cutting trees and other types of pollutants created by mankind. Apart from on-stage events, there was inter-school competition in various areas like quizzes, oral presentations, model-making and poster presentations. It was followed by guest felicitations and awards to the winners and participants. The event concluded with a vote of thanks by Dr. Deepinderpal Singh, followed by the National Anthem.
