Desh Bhagat University and The Himalayan Foundation celebrated Teej. The event was organize by Youth welfare Department In Collaboration with Faculty of Performing Arts and Media & “Centre for Punjabi Language, Folklore and Culture. Dr. Renu Sharma, Assistant Professor welcomed Dr. Tajinder Kaur, Pro Chancellor, Desh Bhagat University as chief guest, Dr. Zora Singh, Chancellor, Desh Bhagat University as special guest of the event. The celebration started with a lamp lighting ceremony.

Dr. Tajinder Kaur, Hon’ble Pro Chancellor congratulated the departments for organizing this event. Dr. Tajinder Kaur said that Teej is a traditional festival for girls in Punjab. Dr. Tajinder Kaur emphasized the importance of tradition and heritage. The sawan month is eagerly awaite by the people of Punjab as different festivals fall at this time period. The festival of Teej brings exuberance and chance to get along each other. Young girls actively participate in events taking place in various towns and districts in Punjab. Celebration of Teej begins from the third day of sawan. Dr. Zora Singh, Chancellor congratulated everybody and wished them good wishes.

Dr. Renu Sharma shared the information that Students from various departments performed dances and sang melodious Punjabi songs. Various activities and competitions were organized in which, mehndi, rangoli, modeling were included. Miss Teej competition was also organized in which- Ms. Tanveen Kaur, Management Department won the title of Miss Teej. At the end of the event the folk dances of Punjab, Giddha and Bhangra, in traditional colourful Punjabi dresses, were performe by the students which was the main attractions of the celebration.

ਦੇਸ਼ ਭਗਤ ਯੂਨੀਵਰਸਿਟੀ ਅਤੇ ਦੀ ਹਿਮਾਲੀਅਨ ਫਾਊਂਡੇਸ਼ਨ ਵਲੋਂ ਯੂਨੀਵਰਸਿਟੀ ਕੈਂਪਸ ਵਿਖੇ ਤੀਆਂ ਤਿਉਹਾਰ ਬੜੀ ਧੂਮ ਧਾਮ ਨਾਲ ਮਨਾਇਆ ਗਿਆ।ਇਸ ਸਮਾਗਮ ਦਾ ਆਯੋਜਨ ਯੁਵਕ ਭਲਾਈ ਵਿਭਾਗ, ਫੈਕਲਟੀ ਆਫ ਪਰਫਾਰਮਿੰਗ ਆਰਟਸ ਐਂਡ ਮੀਡੀਆ ਅਤੇ “ਸੈਂਟਰ ਫਾਰ ਪੰਜਾਬੀ ਲੈਂਗੂਏਜ, ਫੋਕਲੋਰ ਐਂਡ ਕਲਚਰ” ਦੇ ਸਹਿਯੋਗ ਨਾਲ ਕੀਤਾ ਗਿਆ। ਡਾ. ਰੇਨੂੰ ਸ਼ਰਮਾ, ਸਹਾਇਕ ਪ੍ਰੋਫੈਸਰ ਨੇ ਡਾ. ਤਜਿੰਦਰ ਕੌਰ, ਪ੍ਰੋ ਚਾਂਸਲਰ, ਦੇਸ਼ ਭਗਤ ਯੂਨੀਵਰਸਿਟੀ ਦਾ ਮੁੱਖ ਮਹਿਮਾਨ ਵਜੋਂ, ਡਾ. ਜ਼ੋਰਾ ਸਿੰਘ, ਚਾਂਸਲਰ, ਦੇਸ਼ ਭਗਤ ਯੂਨੀਵਰਸਿਟੀ ਦਾ ਵਿਸ਼ੇਸ਼ ਮਹਿਮਾਨ ਵਜੋਂ ਸ਼ਾਂਮਲ ਹੋਣ ਤੇ ਜੀ ਆਈਆਂ ਆਖਿਆ।ਸਮਾਗਮ ਦੀ ਸ਼ੁਰੂਆਤ ਦੀਪ ਜਗਾ ਕੇ ਕੀਤੀ ਗਈ।

ਡਾ. ਤਜਿੰਦਰ ਕੌਰ, ਮਾਨਯੋਗ ਪ੍ਰੋ ਚਾਂਸਲਰ ਨੇ ਇਸ ਸਮਾਗਮ ਦੇ ਆਯੋਜਨ ਲਈ ਵਿਭਾਗਾਂ ਨੂੰ ਵਧਾਈ ਦਿੱਤੀ। ਡਾ. ਕੌਰ ਨੇ ਕਿਹਾ ਕਿ ਤੀਆਂ ਪੰਜਾਬ ਦੀਆਂ ਲੜਕੀਆਂ ਦਾ ਰਵਾਇਤੀ ਤਿਉਹਾਰ ਹੈ ਉਨ੍ਹਾਂ ਪੰਜਾਬ ਦੀ ਪਰੰਪਰਾ ਅਤੇ ਵਿਰਸੇ ਦੀ ਮਹੱਤਤਾ ‘ਤੇ ਜ਼ੋਰ ਦਿੱਤਾ ਅਤੇ ਦੱਸਿਆ ਕਿ ਪੰਜਾਬ ਦੇ ਲੋਕ ਸਾਉਣ ਮਹੀਨੇ ਦੀ ਬੇਸਬਰੀ ਨਾਲ ਉਡੀਕ ਕਰਦੇ ਹਨ ਕਿਉਂਕਿ ਇਸ ਸਮੇਂ ਵੱਖ-ਵੱਖ ਤਿਉਹਾਰ ਆਉਂਦੇ ਹਨ, ਤੀਆਂ ਦਾ ਤਿਉਹਾਰ ਉਨ੍ਹਾਂ ਵਿਚੋਂ ਇਕ ਹੈ।ਉਨ੍ਹਾਂ ਇਹ ਵੀ ਸਾਂਝਾ ਕੀਤਾ ਕਿ ਪੰਜਾਬ ਦੇ ਵੱਖ-ਵੱਖ ਕਸਬਿਆਂ ਅਤੇ ਜ਼ਿਿਲ੍ਹਆਂ ਵਿੱਚ ਤੀਆਂ ਦਾ ਤਿਉਹਾਰ ਬੜੇ ਹੀ ਉਤਸ਼ਾਂਹ ਨਾਲ ਮਨਾਇਆ ਜਾਂਦਾ ਹੈ, ਇਹਨਾਂ ਸਮਾਗਮਾਂ ਵਿੱਚ ਨੌਜਵਾਨ ਲੜਕੀਆਂ ਸਰਗਰਮੀ ਨਾਲ ਹਿੱਸਾ ਲੈਂਦੀਆਂ ਹਨ।ਡਾ. ਜ਼ੋਰਾ ਸਿੰਘ, ਚਾਂਸਲਰ ਨੇ ਇਸ ਤਿਉਹਾਰ ਦੀ ਸਾਰਿਆਂ ਨੂੰ ਵਧਾਈ ਦਿੱਤੀ ਅਤੇ ਸ਼ੁਭ ਕਾਮਨਾਵਾਂ ਦਿੱਤੀਆਂ।

ਡਾ. ਰੇਨੂੰ ਸ਼ਰਮਾ ਨੇ ਜਾਣਕਾਰੀ ਸਾਂਝੀ ਕਰਦਿਆਂ ਦੱਸਿਆ ਕਿ ਸਮਾਗਮ ਦੌਰਾਨ ਵੱਖ-ਵੱਖ ਵਿਭਾਗਾਂ ਦੇ ਵਿਿਦਆਰਥੀਆਂ ਵਲੋਂ ਡਾਂਸ ਪਰਫਾਰਮੈਨਸ ਪੇਸ਼ ਕੀਤਾ ਅਤੇ ਸੁਰੀਲੇ ਪੰਜਾਬੀ ਗੀਤ ਗਾਏ। ਇਸ ਤੋਂ ਇਲਾਵਾ ਵਿਿਦਆਰਥੀਆਂ ਲਈ ਵੱਖ-ਵੱਖ ਗਤੀਵਿਧੀਆਂ ਅਤੇ ਮੁਕਾਬਲਿਆਂ ਦਾ ਆਯੋਜਨ ਵੀ ਕੀਤਾ ਗਿਆ, ਜਿਸ ਵਿੱਚ ਮਹਿੰਦੀ, ਰੰਗੋਲੀ, ਮਾਡਲੰਿਗ ਮੁਕਾਬਲੇ ਸ਼ਾਮਲ ਸਨ। ਇਸ ਮੌਕੇ ਮਿਸ ਤੀਜ ਮੁਕਾਬਲੇ ਵੀ ਕਰਵਾਏ ਗਏ, ਜਿਸ ਵਿੱਚ ਮੈਨੇਜਮੈਂਟ ਵਿਭਾਗ ਦੀ ਵਿਿਦਆਰਥਣ ਤਨਵੀਨ ਕੋਰ ਨੇ ਮਿਸ ਤੀਜ ਦਾ ਖਿਤਾਬ ਜਿੱਤਿਆ।ਸਮਾਗਮ ਦੇ ਅੰਤ ਵਿੱਚ ਵਿਿਦਆਰਥੀਆਂ ਵੱਲੋਂ ਰੰਗ ਬਿਰੰਗੇ ਪੰਜਾਬੀ ਪਹਿਰਾਵੇ ਵਿੱਚ ਪੰਜਾਬ ਦੇ ਲੋਕ ਨਾਚ ਗਿੱਧਾ ਅਤੇ ਭੰਗੜਾ ਪੇਸ਼ ਕੀਤਾ ਗਿਆ ਜੋ ਕਿ ਸਮਾਗਮ ਦਾ ਮੁੱਖ ਆਕਰਸ਼ਣ ਰਿਹਾ।
