Desh Bhagat University Celebrates World Health Day 2026 with Enthusiasm

The Placebo Club (School of Pharmacy), Dentistry Club (Desh Bhagat Dental College & Hospital), and Community Club (School of Nursing), in collaboration with the Institution’s Innovation Council (IIC) and Internal Quality Assurance Cell (IQAC), Desh Bhagat University, celebrated World Health Day 2026 with great enthusiasm under the theme “Together for Health: Stand with Science.” The event was organized at the Seminar Hall, School of Nursing, from 10:00 AM onwards.

The celebration aimed to promote health awareness and emphasize the importance of scientific approaches in improving public health outcomes. A series of activities including an Oral and General Health Awareness Camp, Quiz Competition, E-Poster Presentation, Model Making Competition, and Skit performance were conducted to engage students and spread awareness.

The primary objectives of the program were to create awareness about general and oral health, highlight the role of science in healthcare and disease prevention, encourage student participation in health promotion activities, and foster communication, teamwork, and professional skills while instilling social responsibility towards community health.

The competitions formed a major highlight of the event. The Quiz Competition enhanced knowledge on health-related topics, while the Model Making Competition showcased innovative ideas and practical understanding of healthcare concepts. The E-Poster Presentation provided a creative platform for students to present ideas on public health awareness, hygiene, and scientific advancements in healthcare.

Adding to the engagement, students of the School of Pharmacy presented a skit emphasizing health awareness, hygiene practices, and the role of healthcare professionals. Cultural activities were also organized, showcasing students’ creativity and talent.

Extending the outreach beyond campus, Desh Bhagat Dental College conducted awareness drives in Sacred Heart School ,Jalalpur , Happy Bells School, Saunti and Gurudwara Sahib visitors at Jassra Villagethe local market areas of Mandi Gobindgarh and nearby locations, educating school children and community members at  on dental care and overall wellness. Dental check-ups, health talks, and a signature campaign were also conducted to promote better health practices.

Simultaneously, B.Sc. Nursing 3rd semester students organized health awareness programs at Civil Hospital, Khanna, and Civil Hospital, Fatehgarh Sahib. Through informative health talks and skit performances, they actively educated the public on important health issues in alignment with the World Health Organization theme.

The event resulted in increased awareness regarding preventive healthcare and hygiene, enhanced understanding of the role of science in public health, and development of communication, leadership, and teamwork skills among students. It also encouraged creativity and strengthened a community-oriented approach towards healthcare services.

The organizing team expressed heartfelt gratitude to all dignitaries, faculty members, and students for their valuable presence and active participation. Special appreciation was extended to the organizing committees and collaborating bodies for their continuous support in making the event a grand success.

The celebration concluded on a positive note, successfully highlighting the significance of health awareness and scientific approaches in healthcare, and inspiring students to contribute towards building a healthier society.

Dr. Puja Gulati, Director, School of Pharmacy; Dr. Lovesampuranjot Kaur, Principal, School of Nursing; and Dr. Vikram Bali, Principal, Desh Bhagat Dental College & Hospital, inspired and encouraged the students to actively participate in such events with great enthusiasm and zeal, emphasizing the importance of holistic development and active engagement in co-curricular activities.
