Desh Bhagat University, Mandi Gobindgarh, hosted an enriching orientation programme for over 100 newly enrolled Ph.D. scholars, including a prominent group of international students, on 12 September at the Mahapragya Hall. Organized by the Directorate of Research, the event commenced with an inspiring address by Vice-Chancellor Dr. Harsh Sadawarti, who emphasized the importance of innovation, leadership, and impactful research. The inaugural session was graced by Chancellor Dr. Zora Singh and Pro-Chancellor Dr. Tajinder Kaur, both of whom welcomed the scholars and encouraged them to engage in research that addresses societal challenges. Pro Vice-Chancellor Prof. Amarjit Singh elaborated on the university’s research ecosystem, while Director Research Prof. Ajay Gupta gave an in-depth overview of the Ph.D. lifecycle, including paid teaching assistantships available to scholars. Beyond academic discussions, the orientation also highlighted the diverse talents of the student body with vibrant cultural performances by Mr. Gunjan Channa, Ms. Manisha, and Ms. Rashmi.
