Desh Bhagat University Celebrates International Housekeeping Week with the Theme “Everything You Touch Turns to Awesome”

The School of Hotel Management & Tourism, Desh Bhagat University, celebrated International Housekeeping Week with great enthusiasm and creativity from 14th to 20th September 2025 at the university campus. The celebration aimed to emphasize the importance of cleanliness, hygiene, and creativity in our daily environment while instilling a sense of pride and responsibility among students and staff.

The week-long celebration was held under the inspiring theme “Everything You Touch Turns to Awesome,” reflecting the transformative power of housekeeping in shaping comfortable, hygienic, and welcoming spaces within the hospitality industry.

A series of engaging and skill-enhancing competitions were organized throughout the week, including Best Out of Waste, Towel Art, Treasure Hunt, and Cleanliness Awareness of Surroundings. These activities encouraged students to showcase their creativity, teamwork, and awareness about sustainability and hygiene practices in hospitality operations.

Students displayed remarkable enthusiasm and innovation — from crafting artistic pieces using recyclable materials to demonstrating intricate towel art techniques and maintaining cleanliness around the campus, each activity highlighted the professionalism and spirit of housekeeping.

The event was graced by Hon’ble Chancellor Dr. Zora Singh as the Chief Guest and Hon’ble Pro-Chancellor Dr. Tajinder Kaur as the Guest of Honour.

Dr. Zora Singh shared,

“Housekeeping represents discipline, diligence, and detail. It forms the foundation of guest satisfaction and excellence in hospitality. Students must take pride in mastering this essential art.”

Dr. Tajinder Kaur remarked,

“Housekeeping is more than cleanliness — it’s about care and transformation. When every effort reflects creativity and attention, every touch indeed turns to something awesome.”

The celebration was successfully coordinated under the guidance of Dr. Aman Sharma, Director, School of Hotel Management & Tourism, along with the dedicated efforts of Dr. Rupinder Kaur, Mr. Gurkiran Singh, Ms. Nivedita, and Ms. Srishti, who ensured the smooth organization of all events and enthusiastic participation from students.

The International Housekeeping Week 2025 at Desh Bhagat University not only recognized the vital role of housekeeping in the hospitality industry but also inspired students to embrace creativity, sustainability, and excellence in every task they undertake — truly proving that everything you touch turns to awesome.
