Desh Bhagat University observed World Leprosy Day with a strong focus on awareness, compassion, and social responsibility.
The initiative was jointly led by the School of Nursing and the Faculty of Pharmacy.
The School of Nursing conducted outreach programmes at Kusht Ashram, Khanna and Fatehgarh Sahib, promoting empathy, inclusive healthcare, and stigma reduction.
Activities included health education sessions, interaction with residents, distribution of essential items, and motivational support.

The programme was organized under the guidance of Prof. (Dr.) Prabhjot Singh, Deputy Director, and Prof. (Dr.) Lovesampuranjot Kaur, Principal, School of Nursing, and coordinated by Ms. Bhupinder Kaur and Ms. Poonam, Nursing Tutors.
The School expressed gratitude to Hon’ble Chancellor Dr. Zora Singh and Pro-Chancellor Dr. Tajinder Kaur for their continuous support.
Simultaneously, the Faculty of Pharmacy, in collaboration with IIC and IQAC, organized a one-day awareness programme focused on student education and engagement.
Academic activities such as speech and essay writing competitions were conducted to educate participants about leprosy.
The combined initiatives emphasized early diagnosis, proper treatment, and community acceptance, strengthening public health awareness.
Desh Bhagat University marked World Leprosy Day through coordinated initiatives by the School of Nursing and the Faculty of Pharmacy, highlighting awareness, compassion, and social responsibility. The School of Nursing conducted outreach programmes at Kusht Ashram, Khanna and Fatehgarh Sahib, where faculty members and nursing students engaged residents through health education, interaction, distribution of essential items, and motivational support to promote hygiene, disease prevention, and regular treatment. The programme was organized under the guidance of senior leadership and received strong institutional support. Concurrently, the Faculty of Pharmacy, in collaboration with the Institution’s Innovation Council and IQAC, organized a one-day awareness programme featuring academic activities such as speech and essay writing competitions. Together, these efforts reinforced the university’s commitment to health education, early diagnosis, stigma reduction, and the creation of an informed and inclusive social environment.
