Department of Civil Engineering, Faculty of Engineering Technology and Computing,
Desh Bhagat University, Mandi Gobindgarh, Punjab, has organized a professional development
programme on urban heat island effect with design solution on 12 th May 2025. An eminent
speaker from a premier organisation was invited to deliver the lecture.

Dr. Rubina Mehraj,Principal, HMS School of Architecture, Tumkur, Karnataka, India, has shared her insightful knowledge on the topic of “Urban Heat Island Effect: Causes, Impacts and Architectural
Solutions”.

Total of more than fifty participants registered and participated in this programme.
The participants have given their feedback at the end of the event. According to the feedback
from the participants, they benefited from organising the professional development programme
entitled “Urban Heat Island Effect with Design Solutions”. The programme was concluded with
the vote of thanks delivered by Dr. Sougata Chattopadhyay, Convenor and organising secretary
of this event.
