National Pharmacovigilance Week Organised By DBU Placebo Club
Event Overview
The Placebo Club at the Faculty of Pharmacy, Desh Bhagat University, Mandi Gobindgarh, organized the “4th National Pharmacovigilance Week 2024.” The theme for this year was ‘Building ADR Reporting Culture for Patient Safety.’ The main objectives of the event included:
- Learning about potential safety issues related to medications.
- Improving the development of safer medicines.
- Enhancing patient safety through awareness of Adverse Drug Reactions (ADRs).
- Dramatizing real-life scenarios to emphasize the consequences of unreported ADRs and the pivotal roles healthcare professionals and patients play in ensuring drug safety.
Activities Conducted
Students from the School of Pharmacy, S. Lal Singh Memorial College of Pharmacy, and Mata Jarnail K College of Pharmacy participated in a variety of engaging activities focused on Awareness of Drug & ADR Reporting, including:
- Poster Making Competition
- Nukad Natak (Street Play)
- Hand Pamphlet Making Competition
Additionally, an awareness rally was organized from the DBU campus to Saunti village, flagged off by Dr. Harsh Sadawarti. The rally saw enthusiastic participation from all students.
Inauguration and Speeches
The event was inaugurated by Dr. Zora Singh, Chancellor of Desh Bhagat University. The welcome address was delivered by Dr. Puja Gulati, Principal of the School of Pharmacy, who emphasized the importance of drug awareness and ADR reporting.
Acknowledgments
- Dr. Tejinder Kaur, Pro Chancellor, congratulated the staff, students, and members of the Placebo Club for the successful conduct of the event.
- Prof. Dr. Abhijit Joshi, Vice Chancellor, acknowledged and appreciated the efforts of the students from the Faculty of Pharmacy.
- Dr. Harsh Sadawarti, Vice President, commended the Placebo Club for their initiative and expressed hope for future activities of a similar nature.
At the end of the event, Dr. Shailesh Kumar Gupta, Principal of S. Lal Singh Memorial College of Pharmacy, announced the results of the competitions. Ms. Khushpal, Principal of Mata Jarnail K College of Pharmacy, delivered the vote of thanks, concluding a successful and informative week focused on patient safety and drug awareness.
