On February 14, 2023, Desh Bhagat University, Mandi Gobindgarh celebrated its Tenth Annual Convocation. Dr. Jagbir Singh, the esteemed chancellor of Central University of Punjab, Bathinda, graced the event as the Chief guest. The program started with garlanding the revered statue of Sardar Lal Singh ji by Chancellor Dr. Zora Singh, along with chief guest of the occasion Dr. Jagbir Singh, the hon’ble Chancellor of Central University Punjab, Pro-Chancellor of Desh Bhagat University Dr. Tajinder Kaur with other dignitaries of university. All the distinguish guests were warmly receive by Hon’ble Chancellor Dr. Zora Singh, Pro Chancellor Dr. Tajinder Kaur, Vice Chancellor Dr. Virinder Singh, President Dr. Sandeep Singh, Vice President Dr. Harsh Sadawarti and Registrar Dr. Charanjit kaur Sohi with guard of honor by NCC cadets in ceremonial dress. The NCC cadets led the Academic Procession to Convocation Hall. After the University Anthem the President Dr. Sandeep Singh warmly welcomed the guests and gathering at the convocation. The Convocation began with the opening remarks by Hon’ble Chancellor Dr. Zora Singh. A member of the Governing Body. Dr. Abhijit Joshi, read the annual report of the university and highlighted the university’s successes and mission.

On the occasion Hon’ble Chancellor Dr. Zora Singh conferred the Honoris Causa to Dr. Sanjeev Goyal, Registrar Guru Ravidas Ayurved University, Hoshiarpur, Board of Ayurvedic and Unani System of Medicine Punjab Mohali, Mr. Jaswinder Bedi , Chairman of Kenya Export Promotion and Branding Agency (KEPROBA) Board Member of Industrial & Commercial Development Corporation (ICDC), Dr. Barham Dev Vasisht, Managing Director of Thika School of Medical and Health Sciences and Thika Nursing Homes, Dr. Ramesh Unnikrishnan, Advisor All India Council for Technical Education Ministry of Education (Government of India) and Prof. (Dr.) Abhijit Joshi, Faculty of Ayurveda and Professor and HOD of Department of Ayurveda and Yoga, Tilak Maharashtra Vidyapeeth, Pune.

Chancellor’s Distinguished Leadership Award under S. Lal Singh Chair for Higher Education were given to Dr. Vaidya Anil Bhardwaj, Ayurvedacharya (B.A.M.S). Chikitsak Guru Rashtriya Ayurved Vidyapeeth Ministry of AYUSH, Govt of India. Vice Chairman Board of Ayurvedic and Unani System of Medicine Punjab. Mr. Sushil Kumar Bansal, President, Punjab State Pharmacy Council, Member PCI New Delhi. Dr. Narayanam Srikanth Deputy Director General, Central Council for Research in Ayurvedic Sciences (CCRAS), Dr. Girish Patel, Psychotherapist, Sh. Gurvinder Singh Johal, PCS, Sub Divisional Magistrate, Amloh.

On this occasion, guests not only from all over India but also from abroad graced the event. Alumni from across the country and abroad shared their amazing success stories on the occasion. Every student experienced a range of emotions on this memorable day in their lives as they received their degrees and awards. Desh Bhagat University took the initiative on this occasion and gave saplings to each and every student so they might be linked to nature and be rewarded with prosperity. More than 1600 graduate, postgraduate, diploma, Ph.D., and M.Phil. students, as well as educators, dignitaries, faculty members were there.
India is not merely a nation, according to Dr. Jagbir Singh. but also a civilization that is more than ten thousand years old and continuously flourishing. “Both continuity and antiquity exist in our civilization.” He asserted that the NEP’s innovative philosophy is that education should be centred on India and conducted in the local tongue. He thanked the honourable Chancellor Dr. Zora Singh for inviting him to convocation and congratulated him for implementing NEP in an effective manner in Punjab.

Dr. Zora Singh. Chancellor of DBU, gave his best wishes to the graduating students and emphasized skills. ability, and a positive outlook on life. The Honorable Chief Guest Dr. Jagbir Singh’s remarkable achievements and works were highlight by Dean Academics Dr. L.S. Bedi. The Chief Guest Dr. Jagbir Singh was felicitate by Honorary Chancellor Dr. Zora Singh, Pro Chancellor Dr. Tajinder Kaur. Vice-Chancellor Dr. Virinder Singh, President Dr. Sandeep Singh, and Vice President Dr. Harsh Sadawarti. A vote of thanks followed by the national anthem marked the conclusion of the convocation ceremony.
The convocation ceremony was followe by a fun-filled “Nostalgia Alumni Meet 2023.” The chief guest, Dr. Zora Singh, pro-chancellor Tajinder Kaur and other dignitaries admired the floral welcome at the alumni meet. The opening musical performance made the students feel the warmth and passion. The amazing performances by students represented the different colours of India. The students, staff, and dignitaries enthusiastically praised and loved Malwai Gidha, Haryanvi dance, modelling, and Bhangra. The air was buzzing with anticipation throughout. Everyone was ecstatic during the cake-cutting ceremony for Chancellor Sir’s birthday. They also received Dr. Zora Singh’s best wishes for the future.
