Desh Bhagat University (DBU), through its University School of Law, organised an Awareness Seminar on “Youth Against Drugs” at Mahapragya Seminar Hall, Mandi Gobindgarh.

The seminar was held in collaboration with the District Legal Services Authority (DLSA), Fatehgarh Sahib, under the national campaign “Say No to Drugs.”

The event was conducted under the esteemed patronage of Dr. Zora Singh, Chancellor; Dr. Tajinder Kaur, Pro-Chancellor; and Dr. Harsh Sadawarti, Vice-Chancellor, DBU.

Resource persons highlighted the psychological, social, and legal consequences of drug abuse among youth.

Detailed deliberations were held on legal provisions of the NDPS Act, preventive mechanisms, and the role of Legal Services Authorities in awareness and rehabilitation.

Students participated actively, making the session interactive and informative.

Sh. Ashok Kumar Chauhan also visited the ADR Centre of DBU and appreciated the efforts of the faculty and law students.

The seminar reinforced the role of youth as key stakeholders in building a healthy, drug-free society.

Arun Gupta, Ld. District & Sessions Judge-cum-Chairperson, DLSA, and Sh. Ashok Kumar Chauhan, CJM-cum-Secretary, DLSA, the seminar was held under the patronage of the university’s senior leadership. The resource persons addressed the alarming issue of drug abuse among youth, discussing its psychological, social, and legal implications, with special reference to the NDPS Act and preventive legal measures. Active student interaction added depth to the deliberations. The visit to DBU’s ADR Centre by Sh. Ashok Kumar Chauhan further enriched the occasion. Overall, the seminar emerged as a meaningful initiative, sensitising students and reinforcing the message that youth must lead the movement towards a healthier and drug-free nation.
