The Department of Special Education and Training at Desh Bhagat University successfully concluded a two-day Continuing Rehabilitation Education (CRE) programme on “Emerging Trends in Inclusive Education” on August 9 at its Mandi Gobindgarh campus. Inaugurated by the Chancellor, Dr. Zora Singh, the event brought together educators, experts, and rehabilitation professionals to explore the latest developments in inclusive education. Dr. Singh emphasized the societal importance of such initiatives, highlighting their role in building a more inclusive society and enhancing the skills of rehabilitation professionals.

CRE programmes are structured to support the ongoing professional development of registered rehabilitation professionals, covering a broad spectrum of contemporary topics such as artificial intelligence in disability, inclusive teaching practices, clinical strategies, and assistive technologies. This initiative also helps participants meet registration renewal requirements under the Rehabilitation Council of India (RCI) guidelines.

With 150 registrations and 128 attendees—mostly from Punjab—the programme reflected a strong regional commitment to inclusive education. Participants engaged in sessions on diverse themes including inclusive school development, inclusive pedagogy, teacher training, policy frameworks, emotional learning, and research in disability and education.

Twelve expert speakers, including Dr. Precious Sheoran, Dr. Pardip, Dr. M. Karuppasamy, Dr. Nitin Raj, Ms. Shikha Jain, Mr. Satish Kumar, Mrs. Sherrain Rattan, and Mr. Bibhakar Vishwakarma, shared insights on creating accessible and equitable learning environments. In her closing address, Dr. Precious, Director of the Faculty of Education, expressed heartfelt thanks to the RCI, the guest speakers, and all participants for their enthusiastic engagement and support.
