Workshop on Cocktails and Mocktails for the students of Hotel Management and Tourism

The School of Hotel Management and Tourism at Desh Bhagat University, Gobindgarh, Punjab, successfully organized an interactive Workshop on Cocktails and Mocktails for the students of Hotel Management and Tourism on. The workshop was held as part of the university’s commitment to providing hands-on, industry-relevant training to its students.

The session was led by Mr. Gurkiran Singh Mann, experienced faculty and professional bartenders who introduced students to the fundamentals of mixology, the art of making cocktails and mocktails, and essential bar etiquettes. Students were given the unique opportunity to gain practical experience, preparing a variety of popular and innovative beverages using professional bar tools and ingredients.

From classic cocktails like Mojitos and Martinis to refreshing mocktails such as Virgin Mary and Fruit Punch, students not only learned the preparation techniques but also the importance of presentation, glassware selection, and garnishing. Emphasis was placed on safe and responsible serving practices, customer engagement, and current trends in beverage service.

The Hon’ble Chancellor, Dr. Zora Singh and Dr. Tajinder Kaur Hon’ble Pro-Chancellor congratulated the department for organizing and best wishes for the students and motivated them for future. Dr. Harsh Sadawarti, Hon’ble Vice Chancellor, Dr. Varinder Singh, Hon’ble Advisor, graced the event as the chief guest.

In his address, Dr. Zora Singh emphasized the importance of these workshops in fostering creativity among students, while Dr. Tajinder Kaur appreciated the efforts of the participants and the organizers.

Director of the School, Dr. Aman  Sharma, emphasized the importance of skill-based learning in hospitality and congratulated the faculty for curating a well-structured, engaging session. “Workshops like these are vital in bridging the gap between theoretical knowledge and practical industry skills,” he said.

The event was met with enthusiastic participation and positive feedback from students, many of whom expressed their excitement at being able to apply what they learned in a live environment. The university aims to continue hosting similar events to enrich student learning and prepare them for global hospitality standards.
