A two-day IDE Capacity Building Workshop began at Desh Bhagat University (DBU), Mandi Gobindgarh, on 20 November.

Organized jointly by the Department of School Education & Literacy, AICTE, and the Ministry of Education Innovation Cell (MIC), with support from the Wadhwani Foundation.

Aim:

To train District Education Officers (DEOs) and DIET members in innovation, creativity, design thinking, and entrepreneurship as per NEP 2020.

Workshop is part of Phase-3 rollout, following the national inauguration held on 30 October 2025 by top AICTE and Ministry officials.

Nationwide initiative spans 25 states and 2 Union Territories to strengthen innovation culture in school education.

DBU’s state-level inaugural event was attended by Dr. Zora Singh (Chancellor) and Dr. Tajinder Kaur (Pro-Chancellor).

Sh. Rajeev Kumar (Assistant Director, AQT SCERT Punjab).

Guests of Honour:

Sh. Raman Kumar (State Resource Person, SCERT Punjab) and Sh. Ankush Gawri (Innovation Manager, AICTE Innovation Cell).

Over 60 DEO and DIET members participated.

Expert sessions were led by Sh. Vishal Nair, Dr. Shivani Gupta (Wadhwani Foundation), and Dr. Tulika Mehta (Kaizen Systems).

Dr. Ajay Gupta, Director Research, DBU, delivered the vote of thanks.

The workshop includes hands-on and collaborative activities to promote creative problem-solving and future-ready learning ecosystems.

The event will conclude with discussions on integrating innovation practices into school education.

A two-day Capacity Building Workshop on Innovation, Design and Entrepreneurship (IDE) commenced today at Desh Bhagat University (DBU), Mandi Gobindgarh. Jointly organized by the Department of School Education & Literacy, AICTE, and the Ministry of Education Innovation Cell (MIC), with support from the Wadhwani Foundation, the programme aims to equip District Education Officers and DIET members with essential skills in innovation, creativity, design thinking, and entrepreneurship in alignment with NEP 2020. The workshop is part of Phase-3 of the national IDE initiative, following its inauguration on 30 October 2025 by senior AICTE and Ministry of Education officials, and is being rolled out across 25 states and 2 Union Territories.

The state-level inaugural ceremony at DBU was graced by Chancellor Dr. Zora Singh and Pro-Chancellor Dr. Tajinder Kaur. Chief Guest Sh. Rajeev Kumar, Assistant Director, AQT SCERT Punjab, along with Guests of Honour Sh. Raman Kumar, State Resource Person, SCERT Punjab, and Sh. Ankush Gawri, Innovation Manager, AICTE Innovation Cell, addressed the gathering and emphasized the need for innovation-driven reforms in education. Over 60 DEO and DIET members participated in the event. Expert sessions by Sh. Vishal Nair, Dr. Shivani Gupta from the Wadhwani Foundation, and Dr. Tulika Mehta of Kaizen Systems provided meaningful insights into the programme’s objectives. The first day concluded with a vote of thanks from Dr. Ajay Gupta, Director Research, DBU.

Featuring hands-on activities and collaborative exercises, the workshop is designed to enhance creative problem-solving skills and promote innovation-driven educational practices. It will conclude tomorrow with strategic discussions focused on integrating innovation practices into school education systems.
