The All India Inter-University Pencak Silat Women’s Championship 2025–26 was inaugurated at Desh Bhagat University in Mandi Gobindgarh
The inaugural ceremony was presided over by Vice-Chancellor Dr. Harsh Sadawarti, who welcomed participants and emphasized the importance of women’s participation in sports.
A total of 53 universities from across India are participating in the championship, highlighting the growing popularity of Pencak Silat among women athletes.

The event began with a grand march past by all participating teams.
The ceremony was attended by Guest of Honour Baljinder Singh Toor, Secretary of the Gatka Association of India, and Dr. Gopal Partap Singh, Observer from the Association of Indian Universities.
Other dignitaries present included Dr. Kulbhushan Sharma (Director of Campus), Dr. Arshdeep Singh (Director of Students’ Welfare), and Dr. Pravin Kumar (Director of Physical Education).
A traditional Gatka martial arts performance added cultural vibrancy to the inaugural ceremony.

On the second day, competitions were held in categories including Tanding, Tunggal, Regu, and Ganda, where athletes demonstrated strong skills and sportsmanship.
The event was also graced by Mukesh Kumar, SP Punjab and international wrestling medalist.
The AIU observer appreciated the excellent arrangements made by the host university for the national-level championship.
