Desh Bhagat University – 13th Convocation Ceremony Highlights

The University celebrated its 13th Convocation Ceremony with grandeur at the Shri Guru Hargobind Sahib Auditorium, conferring degrees and diplomas on nearly 1,500 students from the academic session 2025–26.

Chancellor Dr. Zora Singh and Pro-Chancellor Dr. Tajinder Kaur felicitated distinguished guests, while President Prof (Dr.) Sandeep Singh delivered the welcome address.

Vice-Chancellor Dr. Harsh Sadawarti presented the Annual Report, outlining key academic milestones and achievements.

Chief Guest Virendra Sharma, British Parliamentarian and former MP for Ealing Southall (2007–2024), delivered the Convocation Address, emphasizing perseverance, dignity of labour, democratic responsibility, and strengthening India–UK relations.

Honoris Causa was conferred upon:

  • Mr. Sukhwinder Singh Bindra (Member, NISD; Former Chairman, Punjab Youth Development Board)
  • Mr. Kirti Sharma (Chairman, Sherman Group of Companies, New Delhi)
D.Litt. Degrees awarded to:
  • Dr. K. K. Khandelwal, IAS (Retd.) – D.Litt. in Law; Former Principal Secretary, Government of Haryana; Chief National Commissioner, Bharat Scouts and Guides, India
  • Dr. Tajinder Kaur – D.Litt. in Airline, Tourism and Hospitality Management
  • Dr. Dharminder Singh – D.Litt. in Anthropological Linguistics

Chancellor Leadership Awards presented to Sh. Rakesh Goyal and Sh. Shivkanwar Singh Sandhu.

Awards of Honour and Appreciation were presented to distinguished academicians, administrators, and professionals.

Governor’s Medals, Gold Medals, and degrees across Ph.D., Postgraduate, Undergraduate, Diploma, FIIP, and COE programmes were awarded to meritorious students.

Anita Bose Pfaff, daughter of Subhas Chandra Bose, addressed the gathering virtually from Germany, inspiring students to serve the nation with dedication and integrity.
