Desh Bhagat University (NAAC A+) in Mandi Gobindgarh extended a warm welcome on 7 September to a distinguished delegation from the High Commission of Papua New Guinea, led by H.E. Mr. Vincent W. Sumale, High Commissioner, along with Mr. Philibert Keaike, First Secretary, and Mr. Barun Mukherjee, Finance Officer. The guests were received by Dr. Zora Singh, Chancellor, and Dr. Harsh Sadawarti, Vice-Chancellor, along with senior officials and Papua New Guinean students currently enrolled at the university. During the visit, the High Commissioner commended the university’s inclusive academic and

healthcare environment and its strong student support systems. The discussions focused on deepening educational collaboration and the potential signing of a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) to strengthen academic and cultural relations between Papua New Guinea and Desh Bhagat University. The event featured vibrant cultural performances by students from Papua New Guinea and various Indian states, showcasing traditional music and dance that highlighted the themes of friendship, diversity, and unity. The delegation also engaged directly with the Papua New Guinean student community, lauding their achievements and motivating them to continue striving for academic excellence. The visit reaffirmed Desh Bhagat University’s commitment to fostering a global learning environment built on mutual respect, cultural exchange, and international collaboration.
