Desh Bhagat University Celebrates World Tourism Week with Focus on Sustainable Transformation
The School of Hotel Management & Tourism, Desh Bhagat University, celebrated World Tourism Week with great zeal and enthusiasm through a series of engaging events. On the occasion of World Tourism Day, the department organized Poster Making, Brochure Making, Model Making, Rangoli Making, and Speech Competitions, all centered around the theme “Tourism and Sustainable Transformation.”

Students showcased their creativity and innovation through posters, rangoli designs, and speeches that highlighted how tourism can act as a powerful catalyst for environmental responsibility, cultural preservation, and sustainable development.

Adding to the academic significance of the celebration, the School also hosted an Expert Talk on Entrepreneurship and Innovation in Sustainable Tourism. The resource person was Ms. Nidhi Gupta, Founder and Director of Numen Hospitality, Delhi, India, who inspired students with her insights into the future of tourism and the opportunities awaiting young professionals in the hospitality sector.

The event was graced by Hon’ble Chancellor Dr. Zora Singh as the Chief Guest and Hon’ble Pro-Chancellor Dr. Tajinder Kaur as the Guest of Honour.
Dr. Zora Singh emphasized, “Tourism and Hospitality are not only the fastest growing industries but also hold the key to creating a more sustainable and peaceful world. Students must prepare themselves to lead this transformation with vision and responsibility.”

Dr. Tajinder Kaur highlighted, “Tourism is a bridge between cultures. In its sustainable form, it preserves our heritage while connecting communities across the globe. Travel becomes meaningful when it contributes to transformation.”
The smooth conduct of the entire celebration was ensured by Dr. Aman Sharma, Director of the School of Hotel Management & Tourism, along with event coordinators Dr. Rupinder Kaur, Mr. Gurkiran Singh, Ms. Nivedita, and Ms. Srishti, who worked diligently to bring forward the spirit of sustainability and student creativity.

The World Tourism Week celebration at Desh Bhagat University not only showcased the importance of tourism but also inspired students to reimagine it as a force for positive and sustainable change worldwide.
