Prof(Dr) H.K Sidhu, Director ODL and OL , Center for Open Distance Learning and Online Learning,Desh Bhagat University, Mandi Gobindgarh, Punjab attended two days : NAAC-IGNOU Workshop on “Developing Best Practices for Quality Assurance in Open, Distance & Online Learning”, 25-26th August
2025, IGNOU, New Delhi.

Total of 76 participants attended the workshop.

25 August 2025: Registration from 9 to 10. Am at Baba Saheb Convection Center ,IGNOU, New Delhi.

Inaugural session began at 10 am which included welcome address followed by brief of Workshop by Vice chancellor IGNOU Dr Uma. Thereafter there were panel discussions by eminent experts: Shri Mruttyunjay Behera, Economic Advisor, Ministry OF Education, Prof Devendra Kodwani, Vice Chancellors Delegate , International Open University, Ms Ritika Chadha , Director Education India, British Council. It was followed by 3 Separate Group Discussions focusing on Course content Development, Student Support and Assessment criteria . In Second Session there was conclusion of group discussions followed by presentation on quality assurance by Dr Linda, University of London,Mr IAN James Welch, Quality Assurance Agency , UK ,Mr Baljinder Birdi, Quality Assurance Agency , UK. Also there was a presentation of survey analysis by Dr V.Sahu , representative from NAAC .Workshop first day concluded at 5.30 pm
followed by Dinner at British Council Office

26 August 2025: It began with formal welcome followed by session which was chaired by NAAC Director ; Prof (Dr) Prof. Ganesan Kannabiran and Mr IAN James Welch, Quality Assurance Agency , UK.

Prof(Dr) Manish R Joshi, Secretary , UGC, guided and focused on quality education and also put forward various key indicators for upliftment of policy documents, it was followed by interactive session where Dr Joshi addressed all queries basically based on formulation and updating of regulations of UGC DEB.
It was followed by presentation by Ms Dona Wright, The open University, UK who focused on that quality education can be achieved only if we are very clear about learning outcomes.Mr Vithal Madyalkar , Programme Director ,IBM,Innovation Center for Education guided about AI and its role in pedagogy
.Dr Linda , University of London gave a very knowable presentation on assessment criteria and how formative and summative assessments can be processed. .Ms Leah Belsky ,Global GM of Education ,Open AI guided about utilization of AI and Gen AI

There were various fruitful interactive and group discussions
The workshop concluded at 3.45 pm on 26 August 2025
