Placebo Club, Faculty of Pharmacy, Desh Bhagat University, in Collaboration with Institution’s Innovation Council (IIC) on dated 03-10-2025.

A Health Awareness Camp with the theme “Stay Healthy Today!” was organized to promote health education among children. The camp aimed to spread awareness about hygiene, nutrition, and preventive lifestyle practices. The event combined both expert guidance and student participation to make it more interactive and impactful.

Objectives

The objectives of the camp were to:

  1. Educate children about the importance of basic hygiene in preventing infections.
  2. Promote awareness regarding nutrition and dietary habits for growth and immunity.
  3. Highlight food hygiene and the need for preventive practices in daily life.

Student Participation

Students from Pharm D 2nd and 3rd year actively participated in the program. Their contributions included:

  • Poster Presentation: Students designed creative posters on topics such as hygiene, nutrition, and food safety to visually educate children.
  • PowerPoint Presentations (PPTs): Students delivered informative presentations explaining the importance of handwashing, balanced diet, and maintaining food hygiene.
  • Interactive Discussions: They engaged with children through simple demonstrations and question–answer sessions, making the learning process more effective.

Highlights of the Camp

  • Basic Hygiene: Demonstrations on handwashing and cleanliness practices were conducted.
  • Nutrition & Dietary Habits: The importance of including fruits, vegetables, and balanced meals in daily diet was explained.
  • Food Hygiene: Awareness was created on proper handling, storage, and consumption of food to prevent illness.
  • Preventive Practices: Children were encouraged to stay active every day through play and exercise.

Outcomes

The program successfully combined faculty guidance and student participation, making it a collaborative effort. Children learned practical lessons about healthy living, while Pharm D students gained valuable experience in health education and community engagement. Teachers and local staff appreciated the efforts, and the camp created a positive impact.

Conclusion

The Health Awareness Camp, conducted by Dr. Shafkat Hussain and Dr. Tawqeer Shafi with active participation from Pharm D 2nd and 3rd year students, was a great success. The integration of posters, PPTs, and interactive sessions made the event highly informative and engaging. Such initiatives not only benefit the community but also provide students with practical exposure to public health awareness programs.
