Operation Theatre Technology

B.Sc Operation Theatre Technology

With the pleasantry advancements in technology, various electronic equipments have been used in modern operation theatres amid surgeries and operations to overcome various infirmities. The well being of the patient chiefly relies on the congenial and reliable functioning of these medical instruments. This dire need of eminent treatment in the operation theater sprouted an incredible interest for professionally qualified and skilled workforce in corporate hospitals worldwide. Basically, an operation theatre technician is an individual who is responsible for all the administration of the operation theatre which incorporates dealing with the patients’ in & out of operation theatre, management of all the surgical instruments, up keeping operation theatre table, administration of the staff, instrument table, anesthesia chart as well as taking care of the medications needed for surgery, analgesic gasses, wraps, all the cloth & their sanitization. To put it plainly, an operation theatre technician needs to oversee & arrange entire of the operation theatre and without this expert no surgeon can perform a surgery on the patients & neither can a hospital survive.

Feeling the nerve of industry, Desh Bhagat University has designed the DOTT (Diploma in Operation Theatre Technology) course to nurture the aspirants with assiduous knowledge in the operation and maintenance of operation theatre instruments. After scrutinizing various international pedagogies of the stream, the curriculum has been maintained with a perfect blend of theory and practical to produce talented and expert technicians with modern scientific understanding of latest medical technologies. As a stimulating part of practical knowledge, the aspirants are periodically enriched with comprehensive training programmes intended to sprout proficiency in them while working securely and competently as technical assistants of operating theatres in hospitals and to help them function capably in supporting anesthetists and surgeons in operating theatres. Likewise, the students are prepared to assist in the nursing of the patients along with the overall operation theatre management. DBU utilizes various logical and modern methodologies for an effective deliverance of all the theoretical and practical syllabi incorporating didactic lectures, digital display of instruments, models and equipments and interactive sessions headed by renowned personalities of medical sector.
