On the undergraduate level, the school is offering BA. LLB (5 years integrated course) and on postgraduate level LLM and LLB. Having a multidisciplinary structure in its contents, the course BA.LLB equips the students with integrated education of Law and Arts. The course is sanctioned & recognized by the Bar Council of India and intended to grab the innovative learning of all the budding streams of Law in a sophisticated approach with a twofold ambition of serving the general public and sprouting the cohort of genius law professionals. BA.LLB (Hons.), LLB and LLM : Apart from imbuing the students with formal curriculum of the stream, DBU has employed various professional techniques to saturate competence both socially and scholastically into the students. For this intention, various training programmes such as quizzes, debates, bunch talks on social issues, visitor addresses, conferences, seminars are distinctively organized by the department. To boost their oral and written communication aptitudes, the students are enthusiastically elevated to partake in national and global moot court competitions and relevant declamation and debate competitions. Along with these assiduous activities, the department strives hard to enrich the students with professional attributes by organizing a rich interface of the students with commendable identities of legal industry by sorting out various visits to Supreme Court, Punjab & Haryana High Court, Various Districts Courts and other judicial forums.

MISSION OF THE DEPARTMENT

M1: To become a foremost law institution, propagation students focusing on research and community work besides fulfilling their respective ambitions.

M2: To create such lawyers and legal professionals, who are well versed in national and trans-national legal systems by developing their skills in core areas such as IPR’s, Corporate Law, Business Law.

M3: To promote cultural, legal and ethical values with a view top remote and foster the rule of law and the objectives enshrined in the Constitution of India.

COURSE NAME: INTERPRETATION OF STATUTES AND PRINCIPLES OF LEGISLATION

Course outcomes:

CO1: This course is designed to understand the meaning of interpretation and intention of the legislature in making the statutes, along with different parts of statutes. They will also understand the primary and secondary rules of interpretation.

CO2: To make the student familiar with various rules of interpretation and will ultimately be assessed on their knowledge of the legal system and legal doctrine.

CO3: Students understand the role of various parts of a statute in interpreting the same

CO4: Learn the different ways in which lawyers can effect social change through innovative interpretation of legal principles and will also develop skills of interpreting statute and different legal maxims
