Desh Bhagat University (DBU), located in Mandi Gobindgarh, was established under the Punjab Government’s Desh Bhagat University Act. The university is named after freedom fighter Sr. Lal Singh Ji, who was honored with the “Tamra Patra” by the Government of India in 1972 for his contributions to the freedom struggle. DBU is a NAAC A+ Accredited University with a student strength of over 10,000 from across India and 20 + countries. The campus is digitally transformed to align with the outcomes of the New Education Policy. It is a multidisciplinary, student-centric, industry-driven, and research-focused institution offering programs at the diploma, undergraduate, postgraduate, and doctoral levels across various fields, including Engineering, Management, Hotel Management, Hospitality and Tourism, Computer Sciences, Ayurveda, Nursing, Education, Commerce, Airlines, Law, Agriculture Sciences, Languages, Social Sciences, Applied Sciences, Pharmacy, Dental Sciences, and Paramedical Science. DBU has integrated several advanced educational tools and platforms, such as NPTEL, IIT Bombay Spoken Tutorial, Virtual Labs, Internshala, INFLIBNET, Saylor’s Academy of the USA, and Coursera. These collaborations provide free online education, international certifications, and opportunities for students to study abroad through Pathway/Twinning Programs.

DBU has established a 24/7 Robotics & Automation Lab, several Centers of Excellence, and numerous industry collaborations. The recently established Electric Vehicle Center of Excellence and the IIC cell foster research, development, and entrepreneurship among students. DBU also has a Technology Business Incubator (DB Business Foundation) to support young entrepreneurs with seed funding and mentoring.
