In Desh Bhagat Dental College & Hospital, Mandi Gobindgarh, Public Health Dentistry is practiced generally through programs, mostly directed towards the public believing that their education in oral hygiene is important. For this purpose the students of third and final year are taught and guided how to deal with patients, case history, diagnosis, treatment and to motivate and encourage the patient for their treatment. The pattern for such programs is to visit to villages & schools to lecture & to demonstrate oral hygiene methods. Dental checkups are also being organized in the schools. A team of dentists from the institution go for the dental checkups of the students of different Classes and the students get benefitted from this camp. Satellite clinics by institution are also run by the institution in Malowal & Jassran villages which are adopted for screening and treatment of village people. In satellite clinics, proper well - settled dental chair, sterilized instruments for dental treatment is provided by institution. Daily OPD of satellite clinics is 4-5 patients & one MDS staff from each respective department and one BDS staff from PHD department visits the satellite clinics to guide and treat the patients every day.
