As per regulation of the D.C.I and the Dentist Act 1948, the New Dental Colleges have to obtain permission for admission every year from Central Govt. till the Degree is recognised after the passing of Final B.D.S. examination i.e. after passing of the 4th batch of B.D.S. students. This college has admitted B.D.S. students of 4th batch in 2003-04 after obtaining permission for the 2nd 3rd & 4th Batch from the D.C.I. & The Central Govt. and College is recognized by DCI & Ministry of family & Health Govt. of India, New Delhi

Conduct investigation of complex problems: Use research-based knowledge and research methods including design of experiments, analysis and interpretation of data, and synthesis of the information to provide valid conclusions.
Use of modern technology: use of technology in the sum of techniques, skills, methods, and processes during patient procedures and research work.
Dentist and society relationship: the patient-dentist relationship is a delicate partnership that forms the core of dentistry. A new governing body consisting of young dentists and older more experienced dentists will establish a proper system of professional standards and care for patients.
Environment and sustainability: Environmental sustainability is a responsible interaction with the environment to avoid depletion or degradation of natural resources and allow for long-term environmental quality.
Ethics and responsibilities: the dental profession holds a special position of trust within society. There are five fundamental principles that form the foundation of the ADA Code: patient autonomy, non malfeasance, beneficence, justice and veracity.
Dentist role: Dentists diagnose and treat dental issues and help patients develop better oral hygiene regimens. They clean teeth, correct bite issues, perform surgeries and extractions, and perform other duties to ensure that the teeth and mouth are healthy.
Communication with the patients: Introduce yourself and explain your role in your patient's care. Review their medical record and ask basic get-to-know-you questions. Establish a rapport. Make eye contact when appropriate and help your patient feel comfortable with you.
Functionality of dentistry and management principles: Any dental professional can encounter an emergency during the course of their treatment. Basic principles of management of medical emergencies

The working Dental staff of Desh Bhagat Dental College and Hospital has more than 194 papers published to their names. Number of books and chapters in edited volumes / books published, and papers in national/international conference-proceedings per teacher during the last five years is 14 in total.
Internship/Industrial Trainings
Desh Bhagat Dental College and Hospital, Mandi Gobindgarh runs a comprehensive compulsory one year rotary internship program (CRIP) dedicated to train students who have done their graduation (B.D.S) from outside colleges and is strictly governed by the DCI regulations. The essence of the Dental Internship Program is to facilitate the transition of a closely supervised undergraduate student to be an independent dental practitioner responsible for his/her own professional audit. In addition, it exposes interns to different specialties in dentistry that may help him/her identify his/her particular area of interest in dentistry and to supply him/her with adequate information related to various career options. The number of vacant slots per year is limited and will be strictly subject to availability. Campus hostel facility is available for the students. Cultural Activities
Cultural activities play an important role in planting seed of Nationalism and Patriotism among people of India. Desh Bhagat Dental College and Hospital celebrates these events with great enthusiasm. The Faculty, Staff and Students of the Institution all come together under one Umbrella to celebrate these occasions and spread the message of Unity, Peace, Love and Happiness throughout.
The college celebrates 31st May i.e. World No Tobacco Day, every year, the annual campaign is an opportunity to raise awareness on the harmful and deadly effects of tobacco use and second-hand smoke exposure, and to discourage the use of tobacco in any form. The celebration includes a rally on the streets on mandigobindgarh hoisting of Banners and spreading awareness about ill effects of tobacco. National Dentist Day is celebrated every year in the month March with same zest & zeal, to raise awareness about the importance of oral hygiene so that people will know more about how to care for teeth. This day also encourages people who generally avoid visiting a dentist for a regular check-up.
Our college encourages students and staff to recognize for their hard work, because it’s not just a job, its patients’ lives they’re improving every day. So, we find a reason to celebrate our amazing profession by celebrationg national dental day’s e.g. Pedodontics Day and Orthodontics Day every year Desh Bhagat Dental College and Hospital participates with university in International Yoga day every year. Festivals like Diwali, Holi, Lohri, Gurpurab, Basant panchami are celebrated every year with great pomp and show. All the students of our university come together and celebrate it with great fervour & enthusiasm. Keeping its Indian values intact, our aim imparts right kind of education based on moral values & ethics which makes our students responsible global citizens.

Business Incubation/Entrepreneurial Activities
Desh Bhagat Dental College & Hospital organized “Basic Implantology workshop” on 11 november 2019 as continuing dental education program. The workshop was a full day lectures and Hands on programme organized by Dr. Sanjeev Soni and the Faculty Members.
The chancellor of university, Dr. Zora Singh inaugurated the event along with 3 guest speakers, Dr. Sumir Gandhi, Dr. Nitasha Gandhi, Dr. Shekhar Kapoor. In the workshop students were made aware about dental implants.
A live surgery demonstrating placement of dental implant on a patient was performed by Dr. Sumir Gandhi.
Post Lunch Hands on by representatives of Osstem Implants was provided to the students. Students placed dummy implants on dummy models of mandible.

Quality assurance – Teaching and Learning Process
  • There are subtle differences observed in the existing teaching methodologies, a goal will be set to: Streamline the process of uniform conduction of class room teaching activities with no discrepancy by Monitoring the staff to deliver the uniform topic content in the class under the supervision of respective Heads of the department and monitoring committee, also addressing the faculty to follow the given topic schedule for effective learning
Centre of excellence for Dental Education
  • The existing curriculum has well defined outcomes but no definite competency, so we aim to set the standards and give the students a helping hand to excel in their dental education elsewhere in the world by setting the following goals: Sharing and updating the students about the newer trends and concepts in dentistry by conducting meaningful workshops and CDE (Continuing Dental education) programs
  • Identifying the reticent students and providing them with enough opportunities to sustain in this competitive world by providing value added skills such as Communication skills & Empathy skills through the faculty.
  • Engaging I & II year BDS students to apply the basic applied sciences into the clinical scenario through clinical shadowing program thereby improving their confidence in handling the clinical cases.
  • Providing an opportunity (conducting frequent competitive tests and analyzing the results with the expert faculty) to interns for PG NEET exam preparation and guiding (conducting general skill and aptitude tests, workshops on the scope of dentistry) interested students for both abroad opportunities and competitive exams.
  • Sorting support in terms of student learning experience from distinguished alumni students of Desh Bhagat University in making the institution a center of excellence.
