The Department of Education of Desh Bhagat University, Mandi Gobindgarh established in the year 2004, has been widening its horizon over the years in the field of education. At present, the Department is running E.T.T (General), B.Ed. (General), B.Ed.(Spl.Ed.HI ) B.Ed.(Spl.Ed.VI), M.Ed.(General) M.A. (Education), and Ph.D. (Education) courses. All the courses are approved by respective regulatory bodies. M.A (Education), and Ph.D. (Education) are courses approved by UGC. This Department has been conducting researches in the area of Teaching and Learning, Teacher Education, Development of Audio and Computer assisted Materials, Education of Learners with Diverse Needs, Elementary Education etc.

The goals of the Department include providing an exposure to students in a variety of training programmes and situations at all levels of teaching viz. E.T.T (General), B.Ed. (General) B.Ed.(Spl.Ed.HI ) B.Ed.(Spl.Ed.VI),  M.Ed.(General) M.A. (Education). The Department has been continuously revising and upgrading curricula of Undergraduate and Post-Graduate courses in Education from time to time in accordance with the curricular Framework of regulatory bodies for different courses, viz – UGC, SCERT, RCI and NCTE.

From the day one department has shown a commendable progress in the various fields of research, curriculum development guidance and Counselling, community services. Besides to it the   department is actively engaged in development of MOOC,  e-content resources. Department also has handsome number of books edited & written by worthy faculty members. There are 15 regular Teaching Faculty members including Three Professors, Four associate & Eight Assistant Professors. The Alumni of the Department are well placed in the Govt. and non-government organizations.  .
